The paint experts over at Sherwin-Williams have introduced their latest Colormix Forecast for 2023. Donning the name of Terra, it’s a collection that revels in the colors of the earth. More than dirt, stone and clay, however, the ‘Earth’ in this sense refers to the planet, the landscape, and all the people and cultures that inhabit it, with paint tones deeply cognizant of how people interact with spaces, which falls in line with some of their more recent innovations. The Color of the Year has yet to be announced, but we may be able to assume it will follow similar theming.
The Colormix Forecast 2023 Terra Collection
Every year, Sue Wadden, director of color, and the team of color experts at Sherwin-Williams conduct extensive research intended to develop a design conversation based around color for the forecast. This year, a wide variety of topics were considered, including climate change and mental health, with the topics then being translated into thoughtful palettes for the year.
“We are on an intentional journey to experience beautiful, living color as we evolve,” said Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams. “Our connection to the Earth, fondest memories and future hopes are what will influence our global outlook in the months to come. These influences affect our commercial spaces as much as they do our homes. Embracing the idea of Terra in design inspires a new way of living that will be defined by balance, presence, support and the enduring joy that awaits us.”
The Colormix Forecast for 2023 takes this idea of earthiness and humanity and spreads it across 40 different paint hues and four curated palettes: Biome, Lore, Nexus and Origin.
Biome
Tapping into the creative growth of an ever-evolving ecosystem, the Biome palette runs rich with biophilic inspiration. It’s a love letter to the Natural earth, as well as the peace and balance that comes with our interactions in nature.
