Airzone, an industry leader in dynamic HVAC control solutions, today marks the release of certified drivers for the industry’s leading home automation platforms on its Aidoo Pro smart control device. This allows integrators, for the first time, to fully incorporate HVAC inverter systems into smart home automation for Crestron, Control4, ELAN, Lutron and Savant.
Instead of turning off at the target temperature and turning back on when the temperature rises or falls outside a preset range, inverter HVAC units operate continuously, varying their output to maintain a constant temperature. Compared to single-speed HVAC systems, inverter systems are more energy efficient, more compact, feature quieter operation, and provide superior comfort due to their ability to control an environment’s temperature more precisely.
However, the current way of incorporating HVAC inverters into smart home control systems often results in a loss of those benefits. This is due to the HVAC inverter system protocols and home automation platform APIs being incompatible with one another, which causes HVAC inverter systems to downgrade to single-speed operation when paired together.
Airzone Solutions Bridge the Gap Between IoT and HVAC
The Airzone Aidoo Pro is a simple-to-install system add-on that sits between the HVAC system and IoT control devices such as home automation platforms, third-party smart thermostats, and voice assistants. Acting as a bridge these devices and systems, the Aidoo Pro is able preserve all inverter features through its comprehensive library of protocols.
Temperature control data is received via API, interpreted, and translated into appropriate commands for the inverter unit using Airzone’s library of manufacturer-certified HVAC protocols. The inverter, meanwhile, is allowed to continue functioning at a variable rate. This, the company notes, offers efficiency, energy savings, connectivity and comfort to the homeowner, and a simple set-up for the integrator.
According to the company, the release is a culmination of decades spent working with the industry’s leading HVAC inverter and mini-split manufacturers such as Daikin, Fujitsu, Hitachi, LG, Mitsubishi and Panasonic.
“No other system in the home consumes more energy, or is more central to resident’s comfort than HVAC, yet it remains an underrated category among professional integrators, often seen as too messy or complex to successfully integrate,” said Antonio Mediato, founder, and CEO of Airzone. “With our certified HVAC and home automation protocols, Aidoo Pro offers system integrators a unique, lucrative, and untapped opportunity to add a new level of connectivity into their solutions portfolio. Through Airzone, seamless HVAC integration is now possible, and hassle-free.”
