Opteev has announced the launch of ViraWarn™, the first ever plug-in COVID air screener that is also able to detect other coronaviruses like influenza in indoor spaces. Using breakthrough biosensing technology to actively screen air within indoor spaces, the device is able to immediately alert occupants when COVID-19 or other coronaviruses, such as the flu, are detected.
The patented sensor technology focuses on the unique electrochemistry of spiked protein viruses (such as COVID-19 and influenza) to trigger an alert. By setting up modules throughout a room, occupants can set up a thorough screening of an area. The devices are then able to detect airborne coronaviruses within minutes, according to the company.
The modules include air suction that complements a room’s existing airflow to move air through the detection chamber. Should a viral alert be triggered, an LED light and audible alert immediately signals occupants for room evacuation and disinfection. A mobile app is also available for mobile alerts.
Two options are available in the form of the compact X (MSRP $459) that plugs directly into an electrical outlet and the standalone XL (MSRP $799) that allows users to go longer between charges, making it ideal for schools, offices and medical facilities.
Both models are exceptionally well-suited to the classroom due to low vaccination rates among children and the presence of new variants. In addition, the models contain carbon dioxide and particulate sensors to further contribute to indoor air quality within a space.
