Vivint Smart Home and Freedom Forever are joining forces in a strategic partnership to install smart home systems as the first step in a solar installation process helping homeowners take the first step towards energy independence. The partnership will work two ways in that Vivint customers will now also be able to add clean energy production to their homes through Freedom Forever.
Integrating Solar Systems into Smart Home Systems
Vivint is currently in the process of developing an integration that will allow its smart home system to inform the homeowner how much energy are being produced by Freedom Forever’s solar panels and how much energy the home is consuming. This, in combination with other energy-saving smart home features, can leave homeowners better equipped to make informed decisions on energy consumption, according to the companies.
“Joining forces with Freedom Forever broadens our offering and provides value to customers who are worried about the environment and skyrocketing energy costs,” says David Bywater, CEO of Vivint. Bywater was previously the CEO of Vivint Solar (acquired by Sunrun), which is the exclusive provider of solar power purchase agreements for both Vivint and Freedom Forever. “This partnership gives me great confidence that we can deliver our customers a truly integrated smart home and energy offering.”
“We are excited about combining two premier services through this partnership with Vivint,” says Brett Bouchy, CEO of Freedom Forever. “Smart Energy is a significant value add that will help customers realize savings sooner and empower them to take control of the environment in and around their home.”
For Vivint, the addition of solar to its product line comes as the company is deepening its relationship with homeowners. The addition of solar into the Vivint portfolio will ensure homeowners that their homes are not only secure, but also energy efficient, a major concern across the U.S. as many battle with extreme heat during the summer months.
