Things are heating up in the world of HVAC systems as Encycle Corporation announces the expansion of its Swarm Logic solution. Long used in cooling systems as part of Encycle’s autonomous Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) offering, the energy management technology will now be available to heating systems as well. The development and testing of Swarm Logic for heating has been underway for over a year.
Already, Swarm Logic has been successfully deployed at over 1,000 sites with 10,000 rooftop units (RTUs). On average, Encycle customers have been able to save 10% to 30% on HVAC energy consumption, spend and emissions, with results being verified by independent third-party reviews.
The announcement of Swarm’s compatibility with heating systems comes at a time as prices for heating materials such as oil continue to rise for this winter.
“Facing the burden of much higher heating bills this winter, companies already struggling from the economic and labor effects of the Covid-19 pandemic now have a new financial threat to contend with,” said Steve Alexander, Encycle President and COO.
“With HVAC accounting for as much as 40% of a building’s overall energy consumption and spend, customers will be scrambling to find new opportunities to reduce peak demand and consumption,” Alexander added.
“Swarm Logic provides a compelling and low-risk solution, requiring little to no capital expenditures and delivering 2X to 5X returns on program fees almost immediately after deployment.”
How Does Swarm Logic Work?
Swarm Logic integrates with a building’s automation system (BAS), connected thermostats and IoT equipment to dynamically synergize RTUs. The AI technology then allows RTUs to adapt to shifting conditions such as outdoor temperature, building occupancy levels, and more. This also allows multiple RTUs to engage with one another in a connected system, allowing energy consumption between individual units to more cleanly balanced.
Serving a broad range of markets, Encycle’s Swarm solution is able to be deployed in large-scale companies, as well as small- and medium-sized businesses. Customers whose buildings range from 7,500 square feet to 2 million square feet or more realize the greatest benefit from Encycle’s Swarm Logic technology, according to the company.
