Women’s healthcare startup Tia recently debuted its first West Coast facility in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles. The company, which takes a holistic, collaborative approach to well-being, was founded by Carolyn Witte and Felicity Yost as an app in 2016, and later introduced its first brick-and-mortar location in New York’s Flatiron neighborhood in 2019. For its westward expansion, Tia enlisted New York-based design studio Alda Ly Architecture to craft their newest clinic with an cheerful, biophilic design scheme, reports Wallpaper.
The space is located on second floor of an existing building and features ample natural light, picturesque views of the Hollywood Hills, as well as an outdoor terrace. Characterized by an inviting ambience, the interiors are punctuated by colorful furniture pieces, vibrant artwork, and ample plant life.
“We wanted to design a space we would want for ourselves—something welcoming, inspiring and supportive,” says Alda Ly, founder and principal of her eponymous firm. “We developed a fresh perspective for the exam room, focused on personal touches for both patient and provider, and imbued with color that serves to elevate the clinical experience, which serve as wayfinding and represent the brand.”
Tia includes amenities such as a retail area, lactation room, acupuncture room, as well as hospitality station stocked with refreshments. “While a doctor’s office is not supposed to be a spa, we aimed to introduce intentional comforts like a reimagined patient gown, our inhale-exhale socks, and a dedicated patient closet in service of helping you focus on what matters—getting healthcare,” Witte adds.
