The sustainability-focused wellness resort Six Senses has announced a new property destined for Belize, with a targeted opening by mid-2025, according to Hotel News Resource. Occupying 18 acres with over 700 feet of private beachfront, Six Senses Belize will be located on Ambergris Caye, just up the coast from San Pedro.
As the most sought-after destination in Belize, the secret beachfront of Ambergris Caye will offer an abundance of adventures, exploration and revelry in tropical seclusion, with private, overwater villas, spa experiences and wellness facilities just a swim or boat-ride away.
“Throughout, the emphasis has been placed on sensitive integration of landscaping to connect guests with nature and allow for greater privacy and coveted ‘desert island’ appeal,” says Neil Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer of Six Senses. “We’ve drawn inspiration from local craft and Belizean life, capturing the spirit and history of Mayan architecture and local heritage. Everything has been done to embody a new generation of travelers, eager to make memories, while preserving the island for future generations.”
Six Senses Spa and Wellness Village
Designed in collaboration with architects Studio Caban, interior designers Maed Collective, landscape designer Maat Handasa and sustainability experts XCO2, the resort will be split across two beautiful, secluded spaces: the secret beachfront on Ambergris Caye and the adjacent private island.
The aforementioned private island will be host to 45 resort villas and a multitude of private residences in the form of bungalows made accessible by jetties. To the south, the resort features an overwater sunset bar, a dining village and the BBQ hut, which will serve seasonal catches. Additionally, guests will have access to a communal outdoor pool and children’s club while on the island.
The heart of the resort, however, rests in the Six Senses Spa and Wellness Village. Built around the lagoons north of the preservation area, the village’s meditative healing experiences will allow guests to tap into their inner selves with mangroves at the edge of the wetlands. For its initial outing, the village will come replete with an Alchemy Bar, Holistic Anti-Aging Center, fitness center, indoor and outdoor treatment areas, Temazcal lodge and outdoor yoga pavilion. Spa treatments and wellness programs will also focus on natural healing, energy medicine and traditional Mayan practices.
For those interested, there is also a rare opportunity for individuals to purchase any number of the two, three or four-bedroom residences scattered across “a world more magical than you could imagine,” as Daniel Kalenov, Head of Business Development at Cayo Rosario Partners LLC, describes it.
