Having recently previewed their latest collection, In Your Skin at NeoCon, HBF Textiles has announced their newest offering will become available to designers July 5, with the select Matriarch design being delayed until Fall 2022. Inspired by the human experience and the ephemeral nature of life, In Your Skin encapsulates a respectful awareness of the transience of all things, which heightens our appreciation of their beauty.
The collection marks the third collaboration with designer Erin Ruby and the 20th anniversary of the ‘Stitch’ collection (2002) which she co-designed while she worked at TVS Design in Atlanta.
“Sometimes contract textiles can tend toward being cold or lifeless for pragmatic reasons, but this collection is so warm and tactile even with its high-performance functionality,” says Ruby. “It’s full of life – imbued with optimism and aspiration, which I think will resonate within a space.”
Introducing the In Your Skin Collection
The collection features six sensorial textiles produced in 55 colorways with each piece possessing an incredibly tactile and handmade quality to them, according to the company. However, the company notes, the true beauty lies in their residential feel combined with exceptional durability meant for contract and hospitality environments.
With a unique name to match each pattern, the designs of the collection are as follows:
- Matriarch: Featuring a twill weave with strong, bold color combinations evoking the wisdom of age and experience.
- Laugh Lines: Mimicking the well-loved lines of celebration and joy through a casual stripe pattern.
- Tattoo Toile: Bringing a modern take on the traditional Toile de Jouy, incorporating floral and hummingbird motifs common in tattoos.
- Chubby Baby: Introducing a soft and matelassé tufted in a way that mimics the arm rolls of a baby.
- Goosebumps: Calling upon the feeling of a warm hug through its nubby wool texture.
- And Stardust: A reflection on the vastness of the cosmos and our small part in it.
Each of the fabrics in the collection are certified Indoor Advantage Gold (SCS), woven and manufactured in the United States with wool locally sourced from the Midwest, and most of the patterns are manufactured using post-consumer and/or recycled materials. Altogether, they create a refreshing, cohesive collection that celebrates being comfortable in your own skin, as emphasized by the company.
The collaboration continues HBF Textiles’ focus on the hand of the maker and its commitment to supporting women-owned businesses. “I love promoting talented female designers. It gives me a sense of pride to utilize the HBF Textiles platform to share their story and creative vision to a wider audience,” says Miller.
A New Way to Feel Comes with a New Way to Source
In addition, the introduction of the In Your Skin collection marks the launch of a new e-commerce platform for the brand. The rebranded website will allow user-friendly access to the hundreds of textile SKUs, while streamlining sample requests and bulk ordering. The new platform also marks the next step in rebranding, according the company, by increasing brand awareness and accommodating more technologically independent customers to work directly with the company.
