Crestron Electronics has marked an expansion of its residential audio portfolio with four new products, including an all-weather model for the Saros Surface Mount Speakers. Built natively for the Crestron Home OS, the company notes that each speaker is still easily integrable with custom systems, but pair the best with Crestron’s DM NAX Audio-over-IP distribution platform.
“The residential line of architectural and landscape speakers offers a no-compromise solution that scales across project sizes and application locations to deliver an unmatched home audio experience,” said Michael Short, Senior Director, Residential and Hospitality Marketing, Crestron.
“Each of these new solutions is expertly engineered to deliver the level of performance, flexibility, scalability, and style that is sure to exceed even the most demanding expectations, especially when paired with our DM NAX distribution platform.”
New Additions to the Crestron Ultimate Series
Today’s announcement adds Crestron’s first Active Subwoofer, 3-inch in-ceiling speaker SKUs, and a brand-new dual tweeter version of the Crestron Ultimate IC8 speakers to the Ultimate Series. Having first partnered with Origin Acoustics back in early 2021 with the goal of creating a series of high-performance options that would be able to fit multiple lifestyles in the home, Crestron sees these new additions as a solid continuation of this goal.
The Crestron Ultimate Active Subwoofer delivers deep, impactful sound for extremely low frequencies, ideal for home theaters or game rooms. Constructed from carbon fiber materials with a unique design, this 10” 400W subwoofer can be mounted on its side, upright, or on the wall. Greater flexibility is also possible with the optional wireless extender kit, which allows the sub to sit up to 50 feet away from its content source.
Crestron’s new 3” Ultimate In-Ceiling speaker (IC3) joins its 6-inch and 8-inch in-ceiling speaker options, and is designed to deliver similar sound from a much smaller footprint. A 100-degree conical dispersion lets the two-way, full-range IC3 produce excellent sound coverage throughout the space. Its all-weather rating means it can be installed indoors or out, in both residential and marine applications, but Crestron does note its best for new builds so it can disappear into the design of the space.
Finally, Crestron has added a Dual-Tweeter version of the Ultimate In-Ceiling 8-inch speakers which provides peak stereo output from a single speaker for residential installations in small room applications like hallways and shower rooms. Weatherized construction, also make the solutions ideal for patio, sauna, and swimming pool areas.
All-Weather Saros Surface Mount Speakers
Inn addition to the new additions, Crestron also announced that the Saros Surface Mount Speakers are now built with an all-weather IPX6-rated construction, in addition to some major improvements being added to its mounting mechanism. The new upgrades help these speakers to excel at outdoor applications such gardens, bathrooms, saunas or on yacht decks.
Available in 6” and 8” SKUs, the 120W Saros Surface Mount Speakers support both LoZ and HiZ configurations and are engineered to achieve smooth, even coverage, high output, and clear, natural sound quality. These speakers are also designed to provide better frequency response as volume rises, giving them a special edge in louder environments.
