Eco-focused hospitality group Habitas is poised to launch its latest concept, Caravan by Habitas, this month. The destination will be set in the AlUla region of northwest Saudi Arabia, setting the entire experience against a Bedouin backdrop. This immersive glamping experience aims to foster human connections with minimal environmental impact.
Twenty-two chic airstream trailers will make up the accommodations, further demonstrating the brand’s commitment to sustainable design in its getaways. The trailers will form a U-shaped campsite with a gathering tent at its center, featuring colorful, artisanal interiors reminiscent of traditional Saudi residential design. The airstreams themselves will span queen and dual single-bed configuration and feature private decks, indoor lounges, kitchenettes and bathrooms as well.
“We are excited to expand our brand in a new direction and to offer a new type of experience. We invite people to come on an adventure, to play in raw nature,” says Habitas cofounder and CEO Oliver Ripley. “We chose AlUla—one of the oldest cities in the Arabian Peninsula—as our first outpost for this new, immersive concept for its history, culture, and natural heritage. We hope that our Caravan concept will provide travelers with a unique way to discover new and untapped destinations around the world, in nature, and activating unique and experiential accommodation.”
Following Habitas’ six programming pillars, which include music, wellness, adventure, culture, learning and culinary, the experience will feature discourse, performances, interactive art installations and an immersive adventure program. This includes Canyon crossing, Desert Trekking, Arabian Horse Treks, Stargazing and Desert Survival Skills.
Guests of the caravan will also have direct access to services and amenities at Thuraya Wellness, located on the Habitas AlUla property, a 3-5 minute drive from the caravans. Guests can start the day with Daily Morning Yoga and follow it up with rituals and activities like the Bedouin Sound Sensorama, the Desert Clay Circle ceremony and essence-making before closing with Candlelit Stargazing Yoga.
Amenities like a game room, library, outdoor cinema, and yoga deck will be featured, as well as a trio of food trucks and a family-style dining area populated with communal tables and cushioned seating.
