Brentano Offers a Sneak Peak Eco-Friendly Textiles Made with Sequal Yarn
Iris Wang, founder and artistic director at Brentano, has revealed a glimpse of what the brand has in store for NeoCon, revealing one of two new textiles that will be appearing at the show. Renata, takes inspiration from the neo-deco trend currently sweeping the commercial design industry and applies it to a unique, eco-friendly material known as Sequal Yarn.
Part of the Sequal Initiative, which raises awareness of the problem of marine litter as well as the organizations working to clean the oceans, Sequal Yarn is made up of 10% upcycled marine plastic and 90% post-consumer recycled plastic. As part of their global sustainability initiative, Brentano will be using this material for the two new teased designs in their upcoming fall collection, Vida.
“The Vida collection celebrates our inspirations from ordinary things,” says Founder and Artistic Director Iris Wang. “The ability to see beauty in our daily lives is necessary for creativity.” With riveting selections and colorways, the Brentano Design Studio has mastered the movement of creating art out of everyday life.

Vida, meaning life, takes an in-depth look into life’s unique palettes and designs by turning down the noise from the usual busy and chaotic schedules. “Our lives are inspiring, the moments that fill them creating beautiful and orchestrated music; Vida thoughtfully pulls these moments, patterns, and movements together to curate Brentano’s Fall textile and wallcovering line,” states the company in a press release.
A welcoming chenille, Renata’s soft hand brings a charming touch to the collection while still maintaining the beauty and performance of Brentano’s other textiles, according to the company. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye in seven refreshing colorways, Renata’s unique 10-inch vertical repeat of geometric elements subtly mimics the contour of a plastic water bottle, hinting at the use of Sequal in the fabric.
In addition, Brentano will highlight their Spring 2022 Aura Collection inspired by soft edges and natural organic surfaces. The 12 versatile textiles and 3 wallcoverings are a dynamic grouping of soft, pliable, and luxurious selections that are an ode to texture lovers everywhere.

Brentano’s showroom, 1040A in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, will be open throughout the show from June 13th to 15th, with a celebratory event on Monday afternoon from 2-5 pm.
