Yardley, Pennsylvania, in posh Bucks County, is a Philadelphia suburb synonymous with rolling hills, horse farms, and a rich history that even predates the American Revolution. This scenic backdrop is what inspired the luxe 100,000-square-foot Heartis Yardley senior living community that opened last spring.

Driftwood, Texas-based Katus Design Group and New York firm Dash Design worked in tandem on the project, drawing from the area’s European heritage for such features as the mansard roof and stone facade, as well as the interior textures and finishes that complement local Pennsylvania Dutch patterns and colorways. The result is a residential air with timeless French chateau-influenced details.

To showcase Bucks County’s equestrian roots, the art collection features paintings and photographs of horses, local bridges, and farm landscapes.

Along with the 73 assisted living units and 24 memory care units, there is a mezzanine lounge, an airy two-story dining room and clubby bar, and a cozy library flaunting a fireplace, abundant natural light, and an intricate metal butterfly wall sculpture. A fashionable salon and spa and plentiful outdoor areas are also part of the mix.
